Briefing, not a maze
8xGear lives on your phone so you can train. This page is a straight account of what the app can see, what it refuses to see, and who else is on the wire.
Athletes do not pass personal data to one another inside 8xGear. There is no stranger inbox, no public feed, no marketplace of your habits. The developer does not collect a dossier of personal information. We do not need your legal name, street, or government ID to write eight exercises.
The ceiling is a unique identifier used for tracking and push notifications — a token so a device can be reached, not a biography.
For the machinery to remember a device — to send a push, to attribute an install, to keep a session from becoming a ghost — 8xGear may use a unique ID. That is the maximum: tracking and notifications, not a passport stapled to your workout.
Outside services help the app run. They are not “us.” Each is a third-party service and receives only what its job requires.
Firebase — infrastructure. Configuration, messaging plumbing, crash and performance signals. A third-party service operated outside this studio.
Singular — attribution. Helps us understand which door you walked through to find 8xGear, not who you are at dinner. A third-party service.
OneSignal — push notifications. If you allow alerts, a unique push token lets a reminder reach this device. A third-party service.
If a vendor changes how it treats data, their policy governs their side of the wire. This page governs ours.
When you tap Generate, or otherwise ask the coach to write, the content of the message you typed is sent to OpenAI, a third-party service, so it can return training text. That payload is the words in the box — not your phone number, not an address book, not a hidden bundle of identity.
You are not handing other users your prompt. You are not handing us a personal file. You are sending session text so eight steps can come back. OpenAI processes that text under its own terms.
Workout history, difficulty notes, mood after a session, completion marks — these exist so the next plan can be less clumsy than the last. They are residue from training, not a legal identity. Avatar and stats on your profile stay in service of that loop.
8xGear is not aimed at children. If you believe a child has given the app something they should not have, write to us. We will treat it as a fire, not a ticket in a queue.
You can ask what sits against your identifier. You can ask us to stop notifying a device. You can write if a line on this page feels wrong. We answer as a small studio.
